Twister: One Storm of a Film!

Now since this is my first blog, I decided to start off with one of my all time personal favourite films. Now even though this film isn't overly well known, I couldn't help but fall in love with everything about it from the smashing trucks to the flying cows ("Actually I think it was the same cow"). Twister (made in 1996) is a well aged film that makes me want to up and go chasing storms in America every time I watch it!

The two lead roles played by Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton help to bring a beautiful reality to this gripping tale of a group of storm chasers hoping to find a way to predict storms, namely twisters (hence the name of the film), using an invention known as Dorothy.

When it comes to variety, Twister doesn't let us down with it's ranging mood changes that leave us wondering what's coming next. Twister deals with many different themes like the broken, but fixable, relationship of Jo and Bill Harding (Hunt and Paxton), the rivalry the storm chasers face from another group of 'professional' storm chasers who stole the Dorothy idea to get them more famous and the one and only Aunt Meg and her great food.

The background story to Jo helps to build the overall story of the film ad how she learns to let go of her sad past. The wonderful thing about this film is that every question is answered and there are no situations that make us wonder what the hell is going on which is something that drives me CRAZY in films. Everything is explained to us and the ending helps to conclude the story on a soaring high as Dorothy finally gets her moment.

Overall, Twister is, in my opinion, an astonishing masterpiece of a film with both fantastic special effects considering the year it was made and wonderful music that conveys the emotions of the film perfectly. You're definitely missing out if you haven.t watched it yet, it really 'Twists' your heart strings!
